Method of screening molecules for prevention and/or treatment of atherosclerosis in humans by measuring, ex vivo or in vitro, their effect on the activity of interleukin-4 (IL-4)-producing NKT CD3+NK1.1+ cells in a biological sample, is new. Compounds that inhibit activity are selected.
