PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously use a PLC (power-line carrier communication) modem and an information processing unit with one houseboat outlet. SOLUTION: The modem is provided with a modem body portion 22 and a power supply portion 21 for converting an AC power source into a DC power source and supplying the DC power source to the portion 22 via a cable. A plug 21a for inputting the AC power source to the portion 21 and an outlet 21c connected to the plug 21a are provided, so that the power source can be supplied from the outlet 21c to an information processing unit such as a personal computer.
