PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting plate for a solid state imaging element in which the shape of an opening for holding the element by adhering is devised so as to accurately position a photodetecting region of the element when adhering the element, in the mounting plate having the opening formed to hold the element by adhering the element.

SOLUTION: The mounting plate 10 comprises the opening 24 formed to adhere and hold the sold state imaging element 26. At least two edges (24a, 24b) of the opening are formed along a profile of the photodetecting region 32 of the imaging element to function as a positioning reference line of the imaging element to the opening.
