PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a main box user of delivery of an electronic mail to a server. SOLUTION: A server who receives and stores electronic mail in a mail box is connected to a communication terminal 20 through a public network 1. The communication terminal 20 has a telephone function using the public network 1, and makes a display part 25 display informing a user through the public network 1 that the electronic mail is received without generating a telephone ring tone when receives a notice indicating that the electronic mail is in receipt from a center where a mail box is installed. A control part 21 controls the processing. The user can know the receipt of an electronic mail without confirming whether or not electronic mail addressed to oneself is in receipt by calling the server on oneself at each time.
