PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric device having thermoelectric elements whose conversion efficiency between heat and electric energy is high. SOLUTION: A heat exchange mechanism (12) having the thermoelectric elements (20) is provided in a casing (11). A primary side path (15) for allowing first air to flow therethrough and a secondary side path (16) for allowing second air to flow therethrough are formed in the casing (11). The thermoelectric element (20) of the heat exchange mechanism (12) is provided with; a cathode (21) and an anode (22) which are disposed so as to face with each other and also to face with the primary side path (15) and the secondary side path (16), respectively; and nanostructure(s) (23) consisting of conductive materials, which are/is disposed on both or either one of the opposed faces of the cathode (21) and the anode (22). The thermoelectric element (20) keeps the space between the cathode (21) and the anode (22) vacuum, applies a given voltage between the cathode (21) and the anode (22), cools down the cathode (21) and heats up the anode (22) by field emission directed to the anode (22) from the nanostructure (23), performs airconditioning by cooling the first air in the primary side path (15), and exhausts heat by heating the second air in the secondary side path (16).
