<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform high luminance processing in an image with uneven luminance distribution. <P>SOLUTION: An automatic exposure controller is provided with a means for preparing a luminance histogram by using a luminance value of each small area of a photographed image obtained from image data, a high occurrence section extracting means for extracting a high occurrence section exceeding a occurrence threshold from the luminance histogram, a means for comparing an evaluation value for a bright part calculated on the basis of positional information of a small area included in a section equal to or more than a bright part high occurrence section with an evaluation value for a dark part calculated on the basis of positional information of a small area included in a section equal to or less than a dark part high occurrence section when there are a plurality of high occurrence sections and a bright part high occurrence section with the highest luminance is away from a dark part high quality section by a fixed section or more, and a means for performing high luminance processing according to a high luminance processing method selected on the basis of this judgement result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
