PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently extract power from a battery having a low power generation voltage and to reduce power loss. SOLUTION: An electric motor having the battery and a motor section is provided with a battery 11 having a battery voltage of 4 volts or lower, a rotor 12 around which a field winding 1 is wound, an armature winding 13, brushes 15a, 15b, and the motor section having a commutator 16. Focusing general characteristics of a separately excited motor, a ratio of field power to the maximum power of the armature is set at a value in a range smaller than 1/10 e.g. a conventional general range, especially 1/100-1/10, and the input voltage of a field control circuit is set at a value higher than that of the voltage of the armature winding.
