PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a person who has lost almost movement functions to call a nurse. SOLUTION: A nurse call master unit 1 is connected to a calling slave unit 3 through a corridor lamp 2. The slave unit has an optical sensor 31 for detecting the spatial distance from a patient or a reflector displaced by the patient and a call detector 40 for calling the master unit when the distance is below a set value. A call check indication lamp 46 blinks/lights and sends a call signal at the same time, when the situation that the distance becomes below the specified value is repeated twice or more for a fixed time. This enables the patient acting on the sensor to call the master unit, without contacting a button, etc. The patient is informed that the optical sensor senses and sends the calling signal by means of a call checking indication lamp 46, a speaker 45 and a vibration generator 47. The slave unit has a detection repeating number setting unit 38 for changing the number of times the distance is below the specified value, and a detection time interval setting unit 41 for changing the available time of the number of detection times.
