PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound type superconducting wire having a low melting point metal diffusion preventing material with excellent workability and rupture resistant property. SOLUTION: The low melting point metal diffusion preventing material for the compound type superconducting wire is manufactured by laminating a second plate material 32 and a third plate material 33 made of copper to both surfaces of a first plate material 31 including Ta or Ta base alloy, and diffusing Cu from the second plate material 33 and the third plate material 33 into the first plate material 31 by applying a heat treatment to the above, and forming the above complex material into an intended shape.
