PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush support jig capable of assembling a brush assembly without being damaged even if the jig abuts on a slip ring, and an assembling method for the brush assembly. SOLUTION: A straight section 51a of a support jig 51 preventing brushes 28, 29 from jumping out by being inserted in a space previously formed out of a brush holder 27 and a slip ring cover 33 before the brush assembly 26 is assembled to the outer periphery of each of the slip rings 34, 35 is constituted of a straight section 52a made of metal such as iron and a coating part 53 formed of a resin material covering it, no damage is caused even if the jig abuts on the slip rings 34, 35.
