A vertical axis windmill, wherein a casing (7) is extended to the upper side of a lowermost arm (5L), a radial bearing (BI) is fixed to the outside of the casing (7), and an arm (5L) is fitted to the casing (7) rotatably through the radial bearing (BI), whereby the instable state of the windmill in overhung area can be eliminated without reducing a wind receiving area and without interfering with the other member.
