PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress heat generation in a switching power supply unit even in the short circuit of a secondary-side output. SOLUTION: The switching power supply unit is provided with a short-circuit protection circuit 65 which controls a voltage supply to an integrated circuit 40 in the short circuit of the secondary-side output. Thus, the switching operation of a switching element 1 can be intermittently controlled. Therefore, oscillation more than necessary is prevented and heat generation in the switching power supply unit can be suppressed even in the short circuit of the secondary- side output.
