PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of suppressing the temperature rise of coils for generating magnetic fields and the peripheral parts thereof by reducing the hysteresis loss of the magnetic films of the magnetic head. SOLUTION: The magnetic head H is furnished with the coils 3 for impressing the magnetic fields to a recording medium D and the magnetic films 5 disposed in superposition on the coils 3 in the axial longitudinal direction of the coils 3 so as to be electrically insulated from the coils 3. The magnetic films 5 have a plurality of regions 50A and 50B which line up in the circumferential direction of the coils 3 and have a width in this direction. Directions Da and Db of the respective axes of difficult magnetization of a plurality of the regions 50A and 50B are set at the direction parallel to the central lines in the transverse directions of the respective regions or approximately parallel thereto. More preferably the axes of difficult magnetization of the magnetic films 5 are distributed to extend radially or approximately radially around the central axis C of the coils 3.
