PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device capable of simplifying and facilitating operations by enabling a user to store a reproduction stop position just by executing a deciding operation when data are changed from reproduction to stoppage. SOLUTION: When the reproduction of data is stopped, a display setting means sets display contents from a reproduction display 21 to a reproduction stop display 22 to which operation selection display for selecting whether or not to store the reproduction stop position is added.
