PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system capable for sensing occurrence of abnormality to an aged person or a child by constantly monitoring a life line of a property to be independently monitored which is installed at a remote place and by which a prompt action can be taken when an unforeseen disaster and a human trouble occur. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system is provided with a monitoring sensor 3 that outputs a signal corresponding to a state of the property 2 to be monitored and a centralized monitoring module 8 having functions that can read, analyze/store an output signal of the monitoring sensor 3 and electrically transmit the stored data via a public network or a telephone line. In centralized monitoring center 21, the data stored in the centralized monitoring module 8 is collected, totaled and analyzed in the centralized monitoring center by accessing the centralized monitoring module once a day by using the public network or the telephone line. Family members of a contractor can grasp the state by checking a use state of equipment, a video image of a spot by accessing a server computer 27 from a cellular telephone 27 or a personal computer 27.
