The knife consists of a blade (2) that folds into a handle formed from two plates (3, 5) and outer coverings (1). The blade pivots about a pin (6) surrounded by a hollow bush (5) containing a coil spring (7) that is held under tension when the blade is folded. When the blade is released it springs open, with two anti-friction washers (8, 9) on either side of it ensuring its rapid deployment.
