This metallurgical vessel, such as a direct current arc furnace, comprises a metal tank (1) coated internally with refractory material (2) and at least one electrode (3) passing through the bottom of the vessel and connected to one terminal of an electrical supply, the electrode being fixed to the metal tank by mechanical fixing means, and being electrically insulated from the tank. According to the invention, it includes retaining means for preventing a liquid dropping onto the inner surface of the tank from coming into contact with the said means of fixing the electrode, and which consist preferably of a leakproof wall (20) surrounding the electrode fixing region, and orifices (26) are provided in order to remove the collected liquid from the tank. The invention applies in particular to direct current arc furnaces and precludes molten lead arising from the scrap from the charge and infiltrating (arrow 15) across the refractory from impairing the electrical insulation of the electrode fixing.
|
