The axle gear (1) for a motor vehicle has a compensation gear (2) accommodated in a gear housing (1.1) and provided with a differential cage (2.1), a plate wheel (8) and at least one pin (6), on which two planet gearwheels (5a,5b) are located. Each planet gearwheel meshes with two cone gearwheels (4a,4b) connected with an axle shaft (3a,3b). One axle shaft (3a) is accommodated and located by a housing connection (2.4) of the differential cage and one axle shaft (3b) is accommodated and located by the gear housing. The differential cage is formed from the housing connection and a connecting housing cage (2.5). The housing connection serves to locate the axle shaft (3a) and the differential cage in the gear housing and the housing cage for location of at least one pin.
