Closure of the panel sides can be effected by thermoplastic welding on one side or both sides simultaneously. Independent claims are made for: (a) various uses of the panels (03); (b) process equipment including guide belts (01), 1-4 feed channels (05), hold-down plates, laterally movable friction forming and heating tools(11) and/or forming and cooling tools (12); (c) a friction forming and heating tool located behind the funnel-shaped guide channels; and (d) a friction forming and cooling tool located after the forming and heating tool.
