The method involves providing a mass (33) vibrating freely with a degree of freedom on a revolving unit (32) of the press, determining a rotational speed of the press and supplying it to a control device. An actuating variable is determined based on the speed and is supplied to a linear actuator (38) with the device. A vibration parameter of the mass is changed with the actuator depending upon the determined speed. An Independent claim is also included for a device for suppressing the vibrations in a printing press.
