[Also in Division G3] The stem 26 of a regulating valve is guided with clearance 40 in a bush 28, and fluid from the main stream controlled by the valve, is induced to flow through the clearance to keep it clean. The fluid flowing through the valve seat 20 impinges directly on the end 46 of the bush and creates a higher pressure zone. A lower pressure zone in the region of a recess 48 in the bush communicates through passages 44 and a chamber 42 with the other end of the bush. In a modification, the chamber (42) is connected with a pipe (54), Fig. 4 (not shown), of which the other end opens toward the direction of flow to the valve outlet 14. This end of the pipe may alternatively be connected to a low pressure source external to the valve. An actuating diaphragm 30 communicates with the outlet through a restricted clearance 54. Pressure on the other side of the diaphragm is controlled by a pilot valve (not shown) which may be responsive to a pressure or temperature.</p> |
