PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening timing detecting device for an intake valve in an engine tested for detecting the opening timing of the intake valve even in an assembled state of an intake manifold, improving the productivity in an assembling process of an engine, and improving work efficiency. SOLUTION: This open timing detecting device comprises an external driving means for forcibly rotating a crankshaft of the tested engine in which the intake valve 9, an exhaust valve 10 and the intake manifold 17 are assembled, a rotating phase detecting means 5 for detecting the rotating phase of the crankshaft, a pressure detecting means 21 for detecting the internal pressure of the intake manifold 17, and a timing detecting means 101 for detecting the rotating phase wherein the internal pressure of the intake manifold 17 is changed from decreasing inclination to increasing inclination as the open timing of the intake valve 9, with the crankshaft rotated by the external driving means in a state of closing an intake part of the intake manifold 17.
