OPTICAL TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION MODULE BY FERRULE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical characteristics from deteriorating by eliminating a gap between an optical fiber and an optical filter by not embedding the optical filter, but interposing it on an abutting surface for the optical fiber and to make the optical filter low-cost and easy to assemble. SOLUTION: Two ferrule joining materials 1 and 1 are formed by forming a step at a ferrule end part where the optical fiber 4 is embedded and exposing a portion of the circumferential surface of the optical fiber 4; and both the joining materials 1 and 1 are inserted into a guide sleeve 6 and end surfaces of the optical fibers 4 are made to abut against each other across the optical filter 8, thereby optically coupling the optical fiber. The optical filter 8 is formed by laminating a plurality of filter thin membranes 8a at the end parts of the ferrule joining materials while covering the end surface of the optical fiber 4.
