<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a hydroxyapatite film firmly on the surface of a metal substrate to enable the hydroxyapatite film to stably and surely exhibit its function. <P>SOLUTION: The coating is performed by a laser ablation method to coat the surface of the metal substrate with a hydroxyapatite thin film having a minimum film thickness. The hydroxyapatite film is firmly fixed on the surface of the metal substrate by applying a decomposition product of the hydroxyapatite to form an extremely thin film in a short period of time under high vacuum as a pre-processing coating in the initial stage of the coating to prevent the oxidation of the surface of the metal substrate and then passing steam or a steam mixed gas and applying hydroxyapatite under such atmosphere. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
