<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To judge whether uncompressed data can be sent by measuring a data transfer rate. <P>SOLUTION: Mutual recognition processing is performed at a step S1 and when it is judged at a step S2 that a request to send a song name list is received, the song name list is sent at a step S3. When a request to send sound data is received at a step S4, transfer rate measurement processing is performed at a step S5. When it is judged from the transfer rate at a step S6 that sound data can be transmitted, corresponding compressed sound data are extracted at a step S7, decoded into data matching the transfer rate at a step S8, linear PCM data are generated, and the sound data are transmitted at a step S9. When the sound data can not be transmitted, an error message is sent at a step S10. This invention is applicable to, for example, a server which distributes sound data and a sound reproducing terminal which reproduces distributed sound data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
