PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy foil for an electrolytic capacitor cathode which can give an electrode foil having a high electrostatic capacity and high tensile strength, folding strength, and adhesive strength after etching. SOLUTION: This aluminum foil, containing Si, Fe, Cu, Mg, Zn, Ni, Ti, B, Mn, Co, Mo, and other unavoidable impurities, has an Si content of 0.015-0.15 mass%, an Fe content (X) of 0.02-0.16 mass%, a Cu content (Y) of 0.10-1.00 mass%, an Mg content of 0.0008 mass% or lower, a Zn content of 0.001 mass% or lower, an Ni content lower than 0.002 mass%, a Ti content lower than 0.002 mass%, a B content lower than 0.0005 mass%, an Mn content lower than 0.005 mass%, a Co content lower than 0.005 mass%, and an Mo content lower than 0.005 mass%, the Cu content (Y mass%) satisfying both 0.10≤Y≤1.00 and 3.125X-0.15≤Y≤20X.
