PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting angle of rotation that can easily and accurately detect an absolute angle. SOLUTION: The absolute angle A is detected from a first detecting signal V<SB>a</SB>consisting of continuous sawtooth wave pulses and a second detecting signal V<SB>b</SB>gradually increasing stepwise. The V<SB>b</SB>includes a plurality of smooth areas corresponding to each pulse of the V<SB>a</SB>, and a plurality of gradually increased areas for connecting the smooth areas. Each gradually increased area corresponds to a falling part of the V<SB>a</SB>. When the V<SB>b</SB>value is within each smooth area, the absolute angle A is calculated from the values V<SB>a</SB>and V<SB>b</SB>. When the V<SB>b</SB>value is within each gradually increased area, the absolute angle A is calculated from the V<SB>a</SB>value with reference to the V<SB>b</SB>value corresponding to the smooth area right before or after.
