PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a fuel pump by changing the rotation ratio of an engine and the fuel pump into one to one without involving an increase in the much cost. SOLUTION: This driving structure of a fuel pump comprises a gear insertion hole 29 opening in a flywheel housing 28 in order to make an old input gear adopted when the rotation ratio of the engine and the fuel pump 2 is set to two to one face to a housing space S of a gear train, an air compressor gear 30 (a raw input gear) adopted in place of the old input gear so as to be engaged with a main idle small (output gear) within limits capable of passing the gear insertion hole 29 through the idle gear 31 and transmit torque to the driving system of the fuel pump 2 by increasing the rotation ratio of the engine and the fuel pump 2 to one to one, and an adapter 32 which is interposed between the housing 28 and the fuel pump 2 and supports the idle gear 31 rotatably at the position engaged with the air compressor gear 30.
