PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twin shaft screw type compressor which remarkably reduces leakage loss and friction loss, and also reduces power consumption by enabling a low speed operation. SOLUTION: A hermetic container 1 houses: a driving screw 6 rotatively driven by a motor part 4 and provided with a trochoidal profile in one thread; a driven screw 7 provided with a trochoidal profile in one thread conjugate to the profile of the driving screw 6 and driven by a mesh with the driving screw 6; a casing 16 enclosing both screws 6 and 7 to form thread groove spaces 17 and 19 against both screws 6 and 7; bearings 8 to 11 supporting both screws 6 and 7 rotatably; and seal parts 12 to 15 ensuring hermetic performance at both axial ends of both screws 6 and 7. Rotations of the driving screw 6 draws gas into the thread groove spaces 17 and 19 to compress, deliver and discharge the gas continuously. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
