PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high quality and homogeneous glass using a source material which exhibits poor solubility or separation when the glass source material is fed in a vessel for fusing. SOLUTION: The glass is produced by being fused while blended source materials composed of a plurality of pulverized glass source materials are supplemented to the fused glass. The blended source materials contain at least one or more kinds of oxides selected from the group consisting of La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Ga<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, ZrO<SB>2</SB>and WO<SB>3</SB>and are supplemented to the fused glass during bubbling.
