The present invention relates to an anti-diabetic composition comprising an Actinidia argute extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating diabetes, comprising an Actinidia argute extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient, which is extracted to be soluble by adding an organic solvent, and to a health functional food composition for preventing or alleviating diabetes. The anti-diabetic composition of the present invention comprising food grade young leaves of Actinidia argute as a main ingredient from Actinidia argute, which is a natural plant, has low risk of side effects, has excellent inhibitory activities of α-glucosidase, and has properties of preventing, alleviating, or treating diabetes.
