The present invention relates to a method for detecting biofilm or surface mucilage production bacteria by using a Congo-red broth liquid culture medium. The method for detecting biofilm or surface mucilage production bacteria by using a Congo-red broth liquid culture medium according to the present invention has a very high correlation with the presence of ica A and ica D genes of bacteria in charge of a change in a color of a culture medium by bacterial culturing without a change in pH of the culture medium and in charge of the production of a biofilm, and has improved sensibility and accuracy compared to a conventional detecting method. Accordingly, a biofilm may be formed in the food processing environment or on the surface of a medical tool and may be useful in detecting biofilm or surface mucilage production bacteria causing nosocomial infection including food poisoning.
