PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure suitability to image output based on digital data for area modulation and to enhance image quality. SOLUTION: In a color image forming method, a silver halide color photosensitive material having silver halide emulsion layers, a color mixture preventing layer and a protective layer is used, wherein the silver halide emulsion of at least one of the silver halide emulsion layers comprises grains of at least one silver halide selected from the group comprising silver chlorobromide, silver chloroiodide and silver chloroiodobromide having≥95 mol% silver chloride content and the silver halide grains have a region whose silver bromide and/or silver iodide content is higher than that of the other region, the photosensitive material is exposed on the basis of digital image data for area modulation converted to digital data for exposure depending on an exposure device, and a processing solution used contains a compound having a sulfo group and having specified triazine rings at both ends of each molecule.
