<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical switch capable of unnecessitating the adjustment of an optical path length and optical characteristics, reducing signal degradation and being highly operated by making the optical path length and the optical characteristics equal to each other for polarized light rays passing through different routes. <P>SOLUTION: The optical switch is provided with a polarized light separation and composition means 1, at least two reflection means 2 and a polarized light control means 3 for controlling a polarization direction. The polarized light separation and composition means 1 and the reflection means 2 are arranged so as to make two polarized light components separated in the polarized light separation and composition means 1 be incident on the polarized light separation and composition means 1 again to be composited in mutually different advancing directions in the same optical path. Also, the polarized light control means 3 is arranged on the optical path and the polarization directions of the respective polarized light components are controlled by the polarized light control means 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
