PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double optical connector. SOLUTION: The double connector is in such united structure that a couple of unidirectional optical plugs 20-1 and 20-2 are coupled into double constitution. The double connector has a couple of parallel cavities 153, which each has (1) an opening so shaped as to receive a unidirectional optical plug at its rear end, (2) a boss which projects into and out of the cavity from the front end wall 57 of the cavity and has a center axis perpendicular to the front end wall so as to hold the ferrule 21, and (3) a holding mechanism for holding the unidirectional plugs in the cavities. Further, the double connector has latching members 55, coupled with a cell, on its top surface and bottom surface. A plurality of double connectors are arrayed in a connection block. Each cell of the connection block has the front so shaped as to receive and couple with the double optical connector 50 and the rear so shaped as to receive and couple with two optical plugs 20.
