PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a solenoid coil cannot actually be wound on the circumference of a sample tube in the vertical direction into which a protein aqueous solution is placed, because a sample must be irradiated in the horizontal direction by a high-frequency pulse magnetic field, in a superconducting magnet used to generate a magnetic field in the vertical direction and that a probe is not used generally. SOLUTION: A nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus comprises the superconducting magnet used to generate a static magnetic field; a probe having a probe coil used to irradiate the high-frequency magnetic field and used to receive a free-induction decay signal (FID signal), generated on the basis of its irradiation; a high-frequency power supply used to supply a high-frequency current to the probe; an amplifier used to amplify the free-induction decay signal; a detector used to detect the signal; and an analyzer used to analyze the signal detected by the detector. The probe coil is constituted so as to have the solenoid coil and a saddle-shaped coil. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
