PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement accuracy when measuring characteristics in an optical fiber to be measured by using return light having a different wavelength. SOLUTION: In an optical pulse tester, an optical pulse enters an optical fiber to be measured, and return light that is generated at each passage point of the light pulse and has each different wavelength is detected in parallel, thus measuring characteristics in the optical fiber to be measured. In this case, the return light having each wavelength is detected each at timing corresponding to the difference of a propagation speed in the optical fiber to be measured, thus correcting an error at the return point of the return light having each wavelength.
