PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ornament having a feeling of a high quality and excellent scratch resistance, hardly causing the degradation of an appearance quality due to scratches and having a white coating film resembling a stainless steel coating film and giving the feeling of high quality. SOLUTION: The ornament having the white coating film which is composed of a noble metal or a noble metal alloy, has a white color and is formed by a dry plating method as the outermost layer is constituted of; a base material for the ornament which is composed of a metal or a ceramic; an under layer formed on the surface of the base material; a wear resistant layer formed on the surface of the under layer by a dry plating method; and a color layer composed of the outermost layer formed on the surface of the wear resistant layer by the dry plating method. The color layer is a hard white coating film composed of a wear resistant layer having 0.2 to 1.5μm thickness and an outermost layer having 0.002 to 0.1μm thickness and having stainless steel color tone.
