PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a shock absorbing function of an interior component for an automobile mounted in a side wall panel of a car body and having a shock absorbing pad on the rear surface of an impact area. SOLUTION: A plate-like rib 30 extending from a mounting surface is disposed on the rear surface of the trim substrate 11 in a waist part impact area A, and is mounted in the shock absorbing pad 20 fixed onto the rear surface of the trim substrate 11 on the rear surface of the waist part impact area A in an inserted state of the plate-like rib 30. When an impact load is charged due to side impact or the like, the plate-like rib 30 receives the impact, thereby increasing standing speed in the initial time of the impact, inducing buckling with a recessed groove 31 and an opening 32 disposed in the plate-like rib 30, suppressing excessive increase of a peak reaction force, and securing an ideal shock absorbing function.
