FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves producing images of a series of longitudinal- and cross-sections under conditions of bent and unbent knee joint using B-mode of ultrasonography and reflected Doppler signal mode. Changes in synovial membrane and meniscus are detected. Synovial membrane thickening and vascularization degree, availability of villi and exudate in the articulation, structure and vascularization of meniscus defect, hyaline cartilage and subchondral bone structure are evaluated. Synovial membrane thickening, moderate or lowered echogenicity avascular or with vascular signals, availability of subclinical exudate, hyperechogenic cords in the central part of meniscus or meniscus defect, increased echogenicity zones in hyaline cartilage layer being detected, gonarthrosis is to be diagnosed.
