<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device which uses polarized light having the polarization direction made uniform to brightly project an image on a display surface while suppressing variance in luminance and color. <P>SOLUTION: The projection display device has a light source part for emitting light having the polarization direction made random, a reflection mirror for guiding a luminous flux from the light source to a display device surface, a converging system conversion means for converting the luminous flux to a luminous flux of parallel rays, a first fly-eye lens which consists of a plurality of rectangular condenser lenses and condenses the luminous flux of parallel rays from the conversion means to form a plurality of light source images, a second fly-eye lens arranged in the vicinity of positions where a plurality of light source images are formed, and an illuminating system provided with a polarization conversion means or the like for arranging random polarized light vibration components in one direction, in the vicinity of the second fly-eye lens. The rear focus position of the first fly-eye lens is set in the vicinity of an incident aperture part of the polarization conversion means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
