PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive apparatus of a simple structure for measuring the bond strength and shearing strength of a coating film capable of accurately measuring the bond strength and shearing strength of the coating film adhering to a sample. SOLUTION: One end of a vertical pressure detector 15 is held at a guide shaft movable in the two vertical and parallel directions vertical to the sample S and the surface of the coating film and in parallel with the surface of the coating film. A first end of a parallel pressure detector 17 is held at the other end of the vertical pressure detector 15 via a coupler 16. A cutting blade 18 is held at a second end of the parallel pressure detector 17. While the coating film adhering to the sample S is cut by the cutting blade 18, vertical pressure and parallel pressure added to the cutting blade 18 are detected. Since no sliding guide shaft is interposed between the cutting blade and the pressure detectors, sliding resistance is not added to make measurements accurate. The adverse effects of play in the sliding guide shaft on the depth of cut and a cutting surface are eliminated. Due to the absence of the sliding guide shaft, it is possible to achieve a simple structure and inexpensiveness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
