PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous one-component coating agent which is excellent in storage stability and environmentally safe, adheres to a substrate in a short time, and forms a coating film having a good appearance, and a coating method excellent in workability. SOLUTION: This aqueous one-component coating agent contains a one- component thermosetting resin emulsion which does not substantially contain a free isocyanate group and is prepared by dispersing, in water, a partially blocked isocyanate obtained by blocking a part of free isocyanate groups of an organic polyisocyanate with a blocking agent and reacting isocyanate groups with water until free isocyanate groups substantially disappear. The coating method comprises applying the coating agent to a substrate at a temperature lower than 100°C and thermally curing at 100-300°C. Preferably, the organic polyisocyanate is a self-emulsifiable polyisocyanate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
