PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a phosphorus-containing carboxylic acid derivative excellent in dissolubility in organic solvents and produced at a low temperature in a short time and in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the phosphorus-containing carboxylic acid derivative [C-component, formula (3)] is characterized by using an unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative [A-component, formula (1)] having at least≥1 C=C double bond (a1) and a group formed by adding a carboxylic acid to a vinyl ether (a2) in a molecule and a phosphorus-containing compound [B-component, formula (2)], and adding the phosphorus compound to the C=C bond.
