PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified polylactic acid having a branched peptide chain which has many reactive functional groups at its chain ends and to provide a biodegradable microsphere having many reactive functional groups on its surface which is manufactured using the modified polylactic acid.

SOLUTION: This modified polylactic acid has a branched peptide chain end having a reactive functional group. The biodegradable microsphere comprizes the modified polylactic acid as a constituent.
