PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a steering feeling near a steering neutral position and to surely perform a steering assistance near a maximum steer angle without using a motor larger than a general motor used in an electric power steering device. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device comprises a first pinion 3 rotated according to the steering of a steering wheel 2, a second pinion 7 rotated according to a motor 8 for steering assistance, and a steering shaft having first rack teeth 4 meshed with the first pinion 3 and second rack teeth 6 meshed with the second pinion 7. The second rack teeth 6 are formed in such a variable ratio that pitches are smaller at both end parts than at a center part in longitudinal direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
