摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a response time related to a white line detection as a whole device in an in-vehicle navigation device by reducing load processed by a CPU or the like when a vehicle approaches a pedestrian crossing or the like indicated by many white lines. <P>SOLUTION: The in-vehicle navigation device 40 comprises a means 9 for storing reference data for pattern matching, an image pickup means 6 disposed at a predetermined position in a cabin and for obtaining an image before the vehicle, and a control means 28 for performing a pattern recognition of the obtained image by comparing data of the image with the reference data. When a pattern of a road sign having a defined shape for indicating that a pedestrian crossing lies before it on the road is detected based on the pattern recognition of the image, the control means 28 stops a pattern matching related to the detection of the white line indicating a line section.
