<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle capable of realizing an optimum amount of steering required for a driver and a traveling route. <P>SOLUTION: This steering device for a vehicle comprise a steering amount detection means for detecting the steering amount of a steering means, a steering torque output characteristic control means capable of changing the characteristics of a steering torque provided for the steering means according to the amount of steering, a steering transmission characteristic control means capable of variably setting steering transmission characteristics specifying the relation of the amount of steering with the steering wheel drive angle of the steering wheel drive means based on the steer amount of the steer means, a running environment detection means for detecting the running environment of the running vehicle, and a driving movement strategy generating means for generating a driving movement strategy based on the running environment detected by the running environment detection means. On the basis of the driving movement strategy generated by the driving movement strategy generating means, at least one of the characteristics of steering torque output by the steering torque output characteristic control means and steering transmission characteristics by the steering transmission characteristic control means is changed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
