<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop by positively detecting an obstacle on a travel path, to prevent contact with a foreign matter, and to improve durability. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic guided type mobile passenger vehicle 1 is provided with right and left front wheels 6 and rear wheels 8 on a body 2, and it can travel along a guidepath wire laid on a predetermined path while automatically steering. A forwardly oriented obstacle detecting means 50 is arranged in a front lower side of the body 2 in an intermediate area of both right and left front wheels 6. The obstacle detecting means 50 comprises a body 50a arranged in the rear of a bumper 51, a sending and receiving part 50b provided in a body 50a lower part, sending an ultrasonic wave downward and receiving a reflected wave from below, and a mirror means 50c provided below the body 50a and changing a direction of the ultrasonic wave 90°. It has a controller 31 capable of changing over between manual steering and traveling and automatic steering and traveling, and controlling to decelerate vehicle speed and stop the vehicle when it is detected that there is an obstacle within a predetermined front range at least during the automatic steering and traveling. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
