PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine cooling device as improvement of a conventional arrangement involving such problems as a decreased degree of freedom in the layout of the suction port part and exhaust port part and also the design of the combustion system including the valve diameter, etc., and as an eccentric thermal balance inside the cylinder head. SOLUTION: The engine cooling device consisting of cooling water passages 12 arranged around the combustion chamber is structured so that a water flow shutoff ribs 2a are provided between the adjacent cylinders in the counter- exhaust manifold 5 side cooling water passage 12 in the cylinder head 2, and the flow regulation of the cooling water is conducted by the water flow shutoff ribs 2a.
